Japan and stuff

In Breaking News:

Ok so we have some new developments: Stu has decided he loves Adelaide (and us- hehe) so much he has decided to stay in Adelaide! YAY! He will be heading back to the UK in mid Feb and will back in Adelaide by 2nd week of April. We will have exact dates later. But if you do want to get in before he heads back to England for a bit, better get on it!

So as I said in the last post we have a bunch more guest artists coming in the next few months. Another person we can add to the list is our mate Ben O'Grady from Lighthouse Tattoo (Sydney). He will be with us from 12th to 16th of Feb. If you want to book in with our good buddy Benny, please email him direct at tattoosatori@gmail.com

Here is some of Benny's work:

And just to clarify, here is a list of artists (in order of when they will be at Progression) and details about their visit:

  • Malika Rose: Christmas/New Year period. NO MORE APPOINTMENTS AVAILABLE

  • Mitch Love: Christmas/New Year period. NO MORE APPOINTMENTS AVAILABLE

  • Matthew Gordon: 22nd Jan till the 2nd of Feb. Still taking appointments! Please email: Matthewgordon@live.com.au
  • Wendy Pham: 22nd Jan till the 2nd of Feb. Still taking appointments! Please email: wendy_p@live.com.au
  • Alvaro Flores: 4th of Feb till the 8th of Feb. Alvaro is still getting through some emails, so if you have sent one to him for this trip, please be patient. He is a busy man and will get to you as soon as he gets a chance.
  • Ben O'Grady: 12th of Feb till the 16th of Feb: Taking appointments now! Please  email Ben direct: tattoosatori@gmail.com
  • Alex Rusty Cairns: 28th Feb to 2nd March: Taking appointments now! Please email Alex direct at: mail@alexrusty.com

Last minute bookings: Just want to let people know that in most cases, we cannot take last minute bookings, ESPECIALLY this time of year! Our artists can be booked out from 3 weeks to couple months in advance (depending on the artist). We are getting a lot of emails from people wanting a tattoo and wanting it quick! Unfortunately we can't often work this way and people are finding that frustrating, so we apologise for that. But a good tattoo is worth the wait right? If our artists have a last minute cancellation, they may post on their instagram or facebook pages, so you can look out for last minute spots there.

How to make an appointment: The way to make an appointment with us, is to email us (please don't facebook) at progressiontattoo@hotmail.com and you will need to state:
  • What you want to get (koi fish, traditional snake- whatever it is). Please just describe as best you can. Send through pics if you have any (just be aware that we don't copy but it will give us an idea of what you want).
  • Where you want the tattoo (full sleeve or just a small wrist tattoo).
  • If you have a preference for an artist please state, if not we will put you with who we think is best suited to do your tattoo.
  • Please look at our artists portfolio's before asking a particular artist to do your work. If you want a tribal armband and you don't see anyone at our shop that does that kind of thing, then we probably don't have the right artist to do your work. The kind of work they post is what they do, if you don't see the kind of work that you want in there, then they probably can't do it for you.
  • An email such as "I want to book a tattoo for tomorrow, thanks" is not enough information for us. We don't want to waste your time or ours, so we need to know what you want before we can proceed with consultations etc.
Here is some work that the guys have been up to the past few weeks or so:

Coming from Stu:

Coming From Jamie:

By Simo:

And finally from Matty D:

And finally a bunch of pics from our trip to Japan, we had an awesome time, as always! Can't believe it will be September before we will get back there again, that makes me sad :(

Best Miso I have had, from little restaurant we found in Togakushi.

Visited the Tattoo Museum in Yokohama

Sankeien Graden (one of my fave places to visit in Yokohama)

That day was really something else. The changing leaves and the weather- perfection!
One of my fave things about Sankeien is the friendly kitty's all over the place.

And it wouldn't be a visit to Japan without the pain! Not for me this time though :P
Hokusai Exhibition- last day- we were really lucky to see such a great collection!
Osaka Aquarium. Mr Whale Shark is swimming past
Around the Zenkoji Temple in Nagano
The gate to Oskusha Shrine (Togakushi)
Baby's first visit to the snow and Japan for that matter!
Tattoo museum
We got to meet Horiyoshi III!
Shinkansen travel- best way to travel
It was snowing a blizzard in Nagano- well it felt like a blizzard
These cedar trees are huge- you can't even get the perspective  from this photo- was a truly amazing day
And I think that is all......

Here we are blogging from Japan. We are having a mandatory rest day here in Yokohama. Matt is a little worse for wear after two days of tattooing and I have hurt my back somehow. Which has given me time to do a mammoth post. Anyways, I can't whinge because that's just not allowed from Japan!

First off is Progression Tattoo News:

Stu will be leaving us and heading back to the UK at some stage in the next few months. So if you have ongoing work by him, you need to get onto it and get it finished pronto or your going to be traveling all the way to sunny England to finish it!

Ryan Reeve will begin full time with us from February 19th. He does lovely tattoos, awesome script and is an all round super duper fella! We are lucky to have him! He is already taking bookings, so just do the usual, send us an email to progressiontattoo@hotmail.com and Ryan can sort out appointments before he gets here in Feb.

Here is some of Rad Ryan's work:

We also have a bunch more guest artists coming again in the next few months. Here is a list of who is definitely coming and their dates. We have a few more guests possibly coming too but we are just waiting on sorting out exact dates etc But I will do another post again when we can get more dates locked down.

First up is Mitch Love and Malika Rose (from Westside in Brisbane): They will be doing a few days here and there over the Christmas and New Years period. Both are nearly booked up already, so better be quick! You need to contact them directly to enquire about dates and bookings: For Mitch email mitchlovetattoo@gmail.com and for Malika email, malikarosetattoo@gmail.com

Here is some of Hori Mitchy's work:

And the lovely Malika Softshellcrabs work:

Our lovely mates Wendy Pham and Matthew Gordon will be with us for 2 whole weeks before we loose them to Berlin :(, where they will be going to work with some other lovely legends Allan and Amalie at Conspiracy Inc. Now's your chance to get tattooed by these awesome people before we could loose them forever (sniff sniff), don't miss out! They will be in Adelaide working at Progression from 22nd Jan to 2nd of Feb. Email Wendy at wendy_p@live.com.au and email Matt at Matthewgordon@live.com.au

Here is some of Gary Oldmans (Matthew Gordon's) awesomeness:

And Wendy The Noodle Queen's lovely works:

Our good ol buddy Alvaro Flores will be with us again Monday 4th of Feb to Friday 8th of Feb. He has two small spots opened up for just 2-3 hour tattoos, be quick, he won't be back until April! Speaking of which he may also have 1 or 2 spots left for his April visit (Monday 1st of April to Thursday 4th of April). Email progressiontattoo@hotmail.com (please include what you want to get and where and I can take his bookings).

Here's some of our cuzzy Alvaro's sickness:

And we are very excited to have someone new coming into town (new to visiting us that is, not new to tattooing of course). Alex Rusty Cairns (From Lighthouse Tattoo- Sydney). Please email our good mate direct mail@alexrusty.com or progressiontattoo@hotmail.com

Here is some of Rusty Trombones work:

T-shirts I might get a few extras but might be worth shooting me an email so I definitely get one for you. Still have a few prints left too (they are signed and limited to only 20). The dragons are $60 each or if you want both $100, they look great as a pair. Plus postage of course ($15 Australia, international no idea- shoot me your addy in the email)

And so we have recently returned from the New Plymouth Tattoo & Art Festival in New Zealand and we had an awesome time! The convention was probably one of the most organised and well put together conventions we have ever been to! Thanks to Brent Taylor and crew, they did such an amazing job! So we are definaitely going again next year! Here are some pics from our week in Hobitt country:

Hori Mitchy and Matty D Deverson- booth 103
Matty hard at it
Day 1, outlined and black shading done!
Day 2. Still at it
Done, 1/2 sleeve in 2 days. Well done to Tony, who was an absolutely legend and sat like a champ!

Great weekend with great friends!
I'll say it once and I'll say it again, we love NZ!
Ok, was going to post more about Japan but that will have to be a separate blog, as this has already taken me forever and Japan probably deserves it's own post.

That's all....
